Press Release-Broadhurst Environmental Landfill

The Wayne County Commissioners received the following letter dated February 4, 2019 from Broadhurst Environmental Landfill.

Dear Chairman Hires & Commissioners:

As you know, Broadhurst Environmental Landfill has proudly served businesses and municipalities throughout southeastern Georgia since 1994.  Over the last twenty-five years, the Landfill has been a good neighbor, economic driver and community asset.

Our partnership enables the Landfill to contribute to growth and prosperity throughout Wayne County by returning approximately $1 million to the County each year for waste accepted at the site, as well as generating roughly $2 million annually in indirect economic benefits to the community.

As a good neighbor, we have also gone to great lengths to work with the community on issues of local importance.  In fact, each year since 2016, the Landfill team has committed to the community that the site would not accept coal ash during that year, which the site has consistently honored.  In that spirit, we are pleased to commit, once again, that the Landfill with not accept coal ash in 2019.

We value our continued partnership and look forward to our work together in the interests of Wayne County and its bright future.

Sincerely,

Drew Isenhour                                      Bart Keller
