1. Project Overview

Wayne County is requesting sealed bids for the supply of a pre-engineered metal building system to house the Wayne County Animal Control Shelter. The building will be approximately 120 feet long by 30 feet wide and will accommodate dog kennels, cat rooms, office space, utilities, and animal intake areas as indicated in the conceptual layout provided.

The structure will include a covered drive-up intake area for animal drop-off and transport.

The selected contractor will provide the complete engineered metal building package, including structural design, shop drawings, and anchor bolt plans suitable for foundation construction.

The conceptual building layout attached illustrates the intended interior uses including dog kennels (approximately 20), cat rooms, quarantine area, euthanasia room, meet-and-greet space, office, bathrooms, and utility areas. Interior shown for reference only and NOT part of this RFP

2. Building Dimensions

  • Overall Building Size: 120 ft (L) × 30 ft (W)
  • Eave Height: 12 ft minimum
  • Covered Drive-Up: 15 ft covered area included within the 120 ft overall length
  • Roof Type: Gable roof (preferred) or manufacturer standard system

3. Structural Requirements

The building shall meet or exceed the following:

  • Square steel tubing frame construction
  • Stamped engineered drawings
  • Designed for 135 mph wind load (minimum)
  • Anchor bolt plan for foundation
  • Designed in compliance with Georgia building codes
  • Pre-engineered metal building system with manufacturer certification
  • Building designed to allow future expansion on one or both sides.

Structural package must include:

  • Anchor bolt layout
  • Structural framing plan
  • Erection drawings
  • Roof and wall framing details
  • Design/load calculations
  • Shop drawings

4. Exterior Features

Doors

  • Two (2) exterior personnel doors (minimum 36")
  • One (1) 12 ft roll-up overhead door located at one end of the building

Windows

  • Three (3) insulated commercial windows
  • Placement coordinated with floor plan and interior office/cat areas

Covered Intake Area

  • 15 ft covered drive-up canopy
  • Designed for vehicle access and animal intake
  • Must be structurally integrated with the building frame

 Accessories:

Contractor shall include:

  • Anchor bolt plan
  • Sealants
  • Base trim
  • Ridge vents
  • Downspouts and gutters
  • Fasteners
  • Closure strips

5. Building Envelope

Roof

  • 26-gauge minimum galvalume or painted metal roof panels
  • Manufacturer standard roof slope
  • Insulation options to be provided

Walls

  • 26-gauge metal wall panels
  • Trim and flashing included
  • Weather-tight construction

Insulation

  • Roof insulation system (R-30 vinyl backed)
  • Wall insulation system (R-19 vinyl backed)
